How many miles dodge stratus

If the car has been well taken care of then the only maintenance that will have to be done is common repairs such as brake pads, rotors As with any car the higher the mileage gets the more problems you are going to start to see.

Mine's got , miles. I had the head gasket problem, two timing belts one transmission, and an exhaust manifold. Other wise just brakes and oil changes. Still on first engine. My 99 has on it. Other than that it's pretty much been minor repairs like sensors, thermostat, stuff like that. Its manufacturing date reads Jan.

The engine is still very solid as indicated by compression tests, but I believe the previous owners did a very poor job maintaining the car so I am omitting problems that were purely caused by neglect.

The biggest problem we had was a sudden breakage of the timing belt, which with this car usually means you have to replace the water pump. It's a tricky job, because you have to remove the passenger side engine mount and raise and lower the engine as needed.

You also have to be very careful with the AC lines that are directly in your way because it is easy to break the seals on the expansion valve. The other major issue I had was with the suspension. Perhaps the greatest flaw with this particular model is the crude design on the front suspension which relies on a stationary strut assembly and an upper control arm with a built-in ball joint to allow up and down movement as well as steering.

Since the ball joint is not that well built and there is plenty of salt on the roads here in the winter, they inevitably go bad eventually. The only problem is it is built into the upper control arm, so the price is a bit higher than you would expect for the part and the replacement is a pain since you have to remove the upper strut mount from the strut assembly.

Installation is also a little tricky as you have to line everything up just right and of course, have your front-end alignment checked. Once I got past the problems caused by the previous owners and realizing I need to keep a close watch over the front suspension, the car performs well.

We are up to K miles and it is still running very well. We are going to keep driving it for awhile. In summary, I would say avoid the Dodge Stratus models with the ball joints and make sure you keep up on the general maintenance as this car is not very forgiving if for instance you don't keep the coolant system clean.

Also, the cloth driver seat is in rough shape but that is to be expected with all these Miles.

It burns a some oil too which is pretty typical for an old car with this many miles not worth fixing now as Ill just cheap oil. I drive this car for work very hard and with this manual transmission Ive never had any real issues, repairs or anything go wrong which would go wrong with an automatic. Im forever staying with manual transmissions. Great vehicle. In overall it was a waste of money. I have wasted so much money in relating this car.

First it started by changing the batteries, then changing the spark plugs now currently riding with 5 spark plugs out of 6, because one is messed up. Now the car needs a motor mount because it shakes crazily and the oil light comes on every time I break and the suspensions sound tremendously while going over the smallest little holes in the streets.

Mechanics told me it now has low oil pressure and with all the problems that it STILL has, its better off junking it and buying a new one.

The car has k miles and only had it for a year. Yeah, American cars arent worth it. Bought the 03 Stratus with miles a corp lease well maintained records, now, only repairs were rear shocks and brakes, did timing belt service at , its been very cheap to keep.

Not very fast but the iron block 4 cyl engine keeps going no leaks or oil usage between oil changes. Trans serviced every miles still shifts smoothly. So far so good our 03 Altima bought new only has and has had about 7 repairs so far 2 no starts, mostly engine elec. I love my Dodge Stratus. I have owned my stratus for 3 years now. Not that it really matters, but mine is white. I purchased it with k miles and have put It drives very smooth, and handles nicely.

My interior is all black, only cloth, but still very nice. I am very particular about keeping it clean so mine is spotless. It always feels comfortable. The only issue I have with my stratus is that it accelerates slowly. Other than that, this car has been perfect for me.

I do not look forward to the fact that mine has so many miles, Im worried itll start to go out soon. Your now on borrowed time. Do yourself a favor. Put your time and effort into a more reliable car. Like a Ford or a Honda. F1ght0r answered 7 years ago.

Well by any rate what kind of wear and tear am I currently possibly looking at that may need stressed. A supercharger will put a lot of strain on the motor. The bearings will be subject to spinning. If you are determined to get more power out of your Neon, try a low pressure turbo.
